Poem excerpt from my book, Thoughts of an Unspoken Mind
I know I say this about all the poems I have shared from my book, but this is my favorite poem!
To be transformed, is to become new. Usually the transformation starts with renewing your mind. This poem was written when I didn't know what to do with life but I was hoping for a better life. I struggled so much with taking that first step to change. I felt lost and I didn't know what I was searching for. Until I was reminded of one of my favorite scriptures, Romans 12:2, which states, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God." (King James Bible Online) This scripture was the inspiration behind this poem, along with life experiences. And this was the start of change for me. I had to first change the way I was thinking, then I could change my ways. With change comes liberation. There is so much freedom in being who I am created to be. This transformation is constant and ongoing. I am still learning and growing. There are also times that still require me to renew my mind, then isolate. This is what I call my "be still and listen to God" time. Then another transformation happens...
